happy st. patty’s one and all!

One of my favorite aspects of holidays is what I like to call the “excuse factor.”  The excuse factor centers around the idea that on holidays, all things go.  You can justify what would otherwise be completely unacceptable behavior because hey, it’s a “special” day that only happens once a year.  Every holiday has it in one way or another – “Why not have another dessert, it’s Christmas?!”  “Who cares if I look a little hoochie, it’s Halloween?!”  “So what if I get completely wasted tonight, it’s Mardi Gras?!”

Whether or not you choose to give in to the “excuse factor” is a completely different matter, but either way, you know what I’m talking about :P

That said, Saint Patrick’s Day is one of those holidays it seems people celebrate specifically in order to take advantage the many excuses the holiday affords.  And I must say, the St. Patty’s excuses are noteworthy.  Thus far my excuses include: “Why not have a glass of wine with lunch, it’s St. Patty’s Day?!”  “Let’s do green-thumb-gardening activities, it’s St. Patty’s Day!?”  And my personal favorite, “Why not decorate sugar cookies, it’s St. Patty’s Day!?!”

I also made a loaf of soda bread that tastes GREAT but I think the recipe needs a little refining before sharing it with y’all ;)  Right now, it’s a little along THESE lines and we don’t want that :P

So have a great day enjoying your “excuses” and have a happy SAFE St. Patty’s Day :)

Your creativity blows me away everyday! Those cookies look very “wearable” as in on the hips, lol! Got any biscotti creations? That’s my passion right now. STill haven’t perfected the recipe as to how unsticky should the dough be or how long to cook it to get the perfect dryness in the end. All my experiments have been devoured so nothing’s lost in the trying, lol. Would love to spend a day cooking with you. Love you lots, Gram
